Financial consolidation
Multi-level consolidation that follows your structure
Consolidate regions first, then the group, in as many levels as your organisation has.
What it does
Set up a consolidation hierarchy; balances roll up level by level into the consolidation companies, each with SAP Business One's reports.

How it works
- Create one extra SAP Business One company for every level of your reporting tree, for example one for a region and one for the whole group. These companies exist only for consolidation and are kept by the head office.
- In the Intercompany administration console, register each of them in the landscape with the company type "Consolidation". The guide suggests you begin with the top level.
- For every company below a level, open its "Company Details" and name the consolidation companies it reports into, with a "Consolidation Source" and a "Consolidation Percentage" for each.
- Deploy the landscape. Any company can then list the consolidation companies under Administration › System Initialization › Intercompany › Consolidation Landscape; a double-click on a row shows that company's consolidation currency, source and percentage.
- Consolidate from the bottom up: first into the regional companies, then from those into the group company. Each consolidation company runs SAP Business One's standard financial reports for its part of the group.
Set it up
The landscape lives in the administration console under Setup › Landscape. In the "Company Registration" table, the (…) button beside each system opens "Company Details", where "Company Type" makes a company a consolidation company and the "Consolidation Details" table lists the companies it reports into. The "Consolidation Hierarchy Chart" icon draws the tree you have built. Inside each consolidation company, the rest of the set-up is guided by the "Intercompany Consolidation wizard" under Administration › Intercompany Implementation wizard.
Good to know
- Set up a consolidation company like any other SAP Business One company, with its own settings and chart of accounts, but do not switch on Multiple Branches in it.
- Check the local and system currency of every database, consolidation companies included, before you open the landscape page.
- Entries from a multi-branch company keep their branch: it lands in the "Branch Code" and "Branch Name" fields in the consolidation company and travels on to the next level up, so reports can be filtered by branch.
- For speed, the administrator's guide recommends giving every consolidation level its own DI proxy.
- The factsheet sets no limit on the number of companies, and the companies may sit on different servers.
