What it does

Failure notifications by email, with the failed message attached.

When you need it: The administrator fixes a mapping before users notice.

How it works

In the console open Setup › E-mail Connectivity and enter the outgoing mail server, its port, user and password, plus a proxy host and port if the B1i server reaches the mail server through a proxy. Save and deploy again.
Under Preferences › Sender E-mail Configuration, enter the address the emails come from; without it, Admin is used.
In SAP Business One, give each user a language for these messages in the "Intercompany Notification in" field of the user set-up.
Open Administration › Setup › Intercompany › Intercompany Alerts Administration and, feature by feature, tick "System Alert", "Email Alert Success" and "Email Alert Failure".
When a master record or transaction fails, the chosen user receives an email with the failed XML message attached.

Set it up

The alert window has one row per feature (consolidation, centralised payments, master data, service management, the document exchange cycle, G/L allocations, and service invoice allocations on both the A/P and the A/R side), and each row is set on its own. Emails about transactions sent from inside each company use the mail server set under Administration › Setup › Intercompany › Messaging Setup, with "Send Email Notification" and an option for SSL; Copy Initialization Setup can apply it to all companies at once.

Since: Version 47 (February 2023): email notification for failed messages with the payload attached. Version 54 (April 2025) put the status, sending branch, transaction type and both document numbers in the subject line, and added TLS to the messaging setup.

Good to know

The email connection is optional: skip it when the group wants no email alerts.
Success emails and system alerts inside SAP Business One are available too, so each company can choose what it receives.
The console's Monitoring › Notification Log lists failed alerts and emails, with links to read the payload and retry.
Attaching the sender's own document to the email works only for the document exchange cycle.
