Administration and health check
Landscapes: the group, set up as one
Register the companies in a landscape, or several, and deploy them together.
What it does
The administration console registers companies, servers and roles into landscapes and deploys the solution to all of them.
When you need it: A new subsidiary joins the existing landscape.
How it works
- Before you start, put the Intercompany add-on into every company database and check that each one has an entry in the integration framework's system landscape directory (SLD) with working DI and JDBC connections. Databases on the local SAP Business One server get their entry by themselves; databases on other servers are entered by hand.
- In the administration console, open Setup › Landscape. The "Company Registration" table lists the SAP Business One companies of the chosen "SLD Category". Tick the ones that take part and press "Refresh Companies" at least once.
- Open each ticked company with the browse button and fill in its details: an "IC Branch Code", a "Company Template", a "Company Type" ("Head Office", "Branch", "Consolidation" or "Template") and, for service scenarios, an "Operation". Consolidation companies also get a "Consolidation Source" and a "Consolidation Percentage". The guide advises starting with the top consolidation level.
- Press "Deploy". The "Deployment Status" window lists every task with Success or Failure; once all tasks have run, a failed one can be repeated with "Retry".
- After a good deployment the landscape is copied into every company, where users see it under Administration › System Initialization › Intercompany › Intercompany Landscape.
Set it up
Several landscapes are kept apart by SLD category. Create a category on the console's SLD page, place under it only the entries of that landscape, and pick it on the Landscape page; Setup › Select SLD Category saves one as the default. The branch code may hold letters, digits, hyphens and underscores, but no spaces, and must not begin with a digit.
Since: Intercompany 2.0 patch level 23: the Template company type, which receives master data only and serves as the starting copy for a new subsidiary.
Good to know
- You need at least one head office and one branch. Consolidation needs its own company, one for each level of the reporting hierarchy.
- Check the local and system currency of every database, consolidation companies included, before opening the page.
- A company you untick is deactivated and cannot be registered again.
- Deploy again after you change the SLD registration or the email connection, give a company another template, or change its branches; map the currency keys after each deployment.
- "Reset" empties the deployment queues and deletes all deployment data, so use it only when no intercompany transaction is waiting.
