Intercompany trade
Cancel once, in both companies
When a document is cancelled or rejected, its partner in the other company is cancelled too.
What it does
A cancellation or rejection in one company cancels the reciprocal document automatically. No orphan documents are left behind.
When you need it: A purchase order is cancelled the day after it was sent; the sales order disappears with it.
How it works
- A user cancels an intercompany document in SAP Business One in the usual way. SAP Business One creates its cancellation document, which reverses the accounting, tax and inventory effects and reopens the base document.
- If the partner document in the other company is still a draft, Intercompany closes that draft.
- If the other company has already added the draft as a firm document, Intercompany cancels that firm document as well.
- It works from the receiving side too. Cancelling the firm document there cancels the sender's document; rejecting the draft closes it, and the sender company gets a cancellation document.
- Example: a delivery from company B produced a draft goods receipt PO for company A. If A rejects the draft, B's delivery is cancelled. If B cancels the delivery, A's draft is closed, or A's goods receipt PO is cancelled when it was already added.
Set it up
Cancellation is part of the document exchange cycle, so it covers the pairs switched on in each company's template (Setup › Company Template in the Administration Console). A rejection is made on the receiver's draft: set "Document Status" on the "Intercompany" tab to Reject while the document is still a draft.
Good to know
- Closing is handled apart from cancelling. A purchase order or sales order can be closed only as a whole document, and closing one side closes the other; closing a single line is not supported.
- In each company the reversal is the standard cancellation document of SAP Business One, with balances due on the base document restored.
