Intercompany trade
Real-time notifications, with the original attached
Every company is told of intercompany documents by alert or email, with the original document attached.
What it does
Branch companies receive SAP Business One alerts or emails for intercompany transactions; the original document goes with the email as an attachment. A failed copy can trigger its own email.

How it works
- When an intercompany document reaches a company, its users can be told by a system alert in SAP Business One, by email, or both.
- Emails can report successful transactions, failed ones, or both. A failure email carries the failed message payload as an attachment.
- For trade documents, the email can also carry the sender's marketing document as an attachment, so the receiver sees the original.
- The email goes to the address of the contact person chosen on the sender's document.
- Each alert's subject names the status, the branch that sent it, the sending transaction's type and number, and the number of the document created from it.
Set it up
In each company, Administration › Setup › Intercompany › Intercompany Alerts Administration, the window lists the features, the document exchange cycle among them; tick "System Alert", "Email Alert Success" and "Email Alert Failure" as needed. Each user's alert language is chosen in the Users – Setup window, field "Intercompany Notification in". Email is configured once, in the "Messaging Setup" step of Copy Initialization Setup (Administration Console): "Send Email Notification", "With SSL", "Attach Sender Marketing Document", the SMTP server and port, and the mail server's sign-in. The sending address is set under Preferences › Sender E-mail Configuration (Admin by default). The company template also has "Success" and "Failure" notification boxes for each business cycle.
Since: Version 47 (February 2023) added emails for failed messages with the failed XML payload attached; version 54 (April 2025) put the key transaction details into the alert subject.
Good to know
- The sender's document can be attached only for the document exchange cycle. Email notification covers G/L allocations, trade and centralised payments.
- Failed transactions can be retried from the message log in the Administration Console (Monitoring › Message Log), one by one or all at once.
- The message log, not the Intercompany Transaction Report, is where you check that a transaction was replicated.
