Intercompany trade
Tax codes copied when they match
A tax code is copied to the other company's document only when the code and the rate are the same there.
What it does
Set by a setting: the tax code of the sender's document is used in the receiver's document only if the receiving company has the same code with the same rate. Otherwise the receiver's own determination applies.
When you need it: Two companies in the same country share their VAT codes; a company abroad keeps its own.
How it works
- A user adds an intercompany document with a tax code on its lines.
- Intercompany looks in the receiving company for the same tax code at the same rate.
- When code and rate both match, the code is set on the receiver's document.
- When the code is missing there, or its rate differs, no tax code is assigned automatically; it is left to the receiving company.
Set it up
Tick "Automatically Assign Tax Codes to Receiving Documents in Intercompany Trade" in Administration › Setup › Intercompany › General Settings. The intercompany general settings can be copied from one company to others with Setup › Copy Intercompany Setups in the Administration Console.
Since: Version 47 (February 2023) introduced tax code replication in trade, driven by this setting.
Good to know
- A document created directly as a firm document must have a tax code in the receiving company. Set up tax code determination there so firm documents can be added.
- In companies on the Brazilian localisation, the tax amounts of the two documents are also compared when the receiver adds its document.
