Totals and tax compared between companies
Intercompany compares the two documents and shows any difference.
What it does
The document totals of sender and receiver are compared, and differences are shown. For the Brazil localisation the tax amounts and details are compared too.
When you need it: Rounding in one company makes an invoice one cent different; the difference is shown before month-end.
How it works
- A user in the receiving company adds the document Intercompany created. This applies to sales orders, goods receipt POs and returns; on the A/P side to reserve invoices, invoices, debit memos, correction invoices and their reversals; and to credit memos on either side.
- Intercompany compares that document's total with the total of the sender's document and warns of any difference.
- Updating a sales order runs the comparison again.
- In companies on the Brazilian localisation, a second check compares the tax amounts and tax details of the two documents, for sales orders, returns and A/R credit memos, and on the A/P side for reserve invoices, invoices and goods receipt POs.
- Both totals stay in view: "Receiver Document Total" on the sender's tab and "Sender Document Total" on the receiver's. On Brazilian receiver documents, "Source Tax Details" opens the sender's tax information.
Set it up
The tax check is controlled by "Disable Tax Comparison" in Administration › Setup › Intercompany › General Settings, a setting relevant only to Brazil. For the tax check to work, open Form Settings on each of its documents and show these row fields: "Tax Amount (LC)", the three freight amounts and their tax in local currency, "WT Amount", "Source Tax Amt LC", the three source additional expenses and their tax, and "Source WT Amount".
Good to know
- Direct creation of firm documents relies on this comparison: the firm document is made only when the receiver's total equals the sender's.
- Outside Brazil, only the document totals are compared.
