Master data replication
One chart of accounts, managed centrally
Keep the G/L accounts in one company and copy them to the others.
What it does
G/L accounts are created in one company and replicated to the branch companies, for consistent reporting and a simpler consolidation.
When you need it: A new cost account is opened once for the whole group.
How it works
- In the company template, switch on the G/L accounts object, which is off by default, then give the branch companies that template on the landscape page.
- Open Financials › Chart of Accounts in the company that keeps the master chart and add or change the account there.
- Intercompany copies it to the branch companies, the consolidation company included, with the code, name, parent, level, type, currency and the other required properties.
- Optional properties, such as relevance for distribution rules, project, frozen and valid periods, follow when they are ticked in the template.
Set it up
The account structures must fit. An account is copied when both companies use an un-segmented chart, or when both are segmented with the same number of segments, the same size and type per segment, and the same segment codes. In every other case it is not copied.
Since: Version 47 (February 2023): G/L accounts can be kept in one company and copied to the branches.
Good to know
- Deleting an account in the source company is not passed on.
- If the parent account already holds more than one active account, the copy may land at another position under that parent; the DI API cannot set the place.
- The "Chart of Account Distribution" window in the consolidation company is a separate thing: it exports the consolidated chart to the branches for mapping consolidation accounts.
- When you copy intercompany setups to other companies, missing G/L accounts can be created there with their title accounts, provided both charts have the same number of drawers.
