Master data replication

User-defined fields and tables, everywhere

Copy the data of your custom fields and tables, and their structure.

What it does

UDTs are copied like master data. UDF data is copied on items, business partners, intercompany documents, journal entries and journal vouchers. From version 48 the structure of UDFs and UDTs is copied too, so every company has the same custom fields.

When you need it: A custom "brand" field on items exists, filled, in every company.

How it works

  1. Copy the structure first. In the Administration Console choose Preferences › UDF Structure Replication, pick an object, tick the fields, choose "Target Companies" (all branches by default) and press "Replicate". For tables use Preferences › UDT Structure Replication, starting from a base company.
  2. Then register the data. Preferences › UDF Replication shows, per object, only fields with the same name, type and length in every branch and not linked to a system object. Tick them and save; "Registered" shows Y.
  3. For tables, Preferences › UDT Replication: "Import" the tables of one or all branches, "Submit" to build the list they have in common, pick a table and register its fields.
  4. From then on the values entered in those fields travel with their item, partner, document or table record. Journal entries and journal vouchers carry theirs into the consolidation company when consolidation runs.

Set it up

Fields can be copied on partners (header, addresses, contact persons), items, project codes, item groups, price lists, equipment cards, the documents of the exchange cycle (header, lines, additional expenses), batch numbers, and journal entries and vouchers.

Since: Version 48 (June 2023): the structure of fields and tables is copied to all participating companies.

Good to know

  • The structure copy adds fields only. Changing or removing a field is not copied, fields with "Advanced" validation are left out, and a field linked to a table or object the receiver lacks fails. Close SAP Business One while the structure is copied.
  • Table data is copied only when the records are changed in the SAP Business One client or through the DI API; user-defined objects are not supported.
  • Table copying works for branch and template companies; for fields outside journals, data goes between branches only.
