Master data replication
Know at once when a copy fails
A chosen person gets an email when master data or a document fails to copy.
What it does
Failure messages for master data or transactions are emailed to the users you set, with the failed message attached.
When you need it: A new item is refused by one company; the administrator knows before the users do.
How it works
- In SAP Business One, in the "Users - Setup" window, choose the language of intercompany notices in "Intercompany Notification in".
- Open Administration › Setup › Intercompany › Intercompany Alerts Administration. For each feature (master data, G/L allocation, document exchange, centralised payments, service management, consolidation and the allocations) tick "System Alert", "Email Alert Success", "Email Alert Failure", or a mix.
- In the company template, keep "Failure" ticked under "Notification" for the objects concerned.
- When a master record or transaction fails to copy, the email arrives with the failed message, its XML payload, attached.
- Once the cause is fixed, open Monitoring › Message Log in the Administration Console: "Payload" shows the error, "Retry" sends one message again, "Retry All Errors" sends them all.
Set it up
Email is optional. The mail server goes in the Administration Console under Setup › E-mail Connectivity, and the sender address under Preferences › Sender E-mail Configuration (Admin until you change it). Monitoring › Notification Log lists the alert and email notices sent for failures.
Since: Version 47 (February 2023): email notice of failed messages, with the payload attached.
Good to know
- Preferences › Auto Retry Errors resends failed messages daily or weekly at an hour you set, which suits errors from missing data that users can fix themselves.
- Keep the retry count at 5 or lower; each retry uses resources and makes the database grow.
- The "Failed Replication" tile of the cockpit counts the failures of the day; a click opens the message log filtered to them.
